History

With its headquarters in Curitiba-PR since its establishment in 1981, STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. is a pioneer in Brazil in integrating in single facility different areas of expertise related to consultancy, engineering and management.

Born as a consulting company, STCP has been reinventing and adapting to political changes, economic cycles and technological advancements that have occurred over the years.

As a result, STCP offers a diverse range of consultancy, engineering, and management services, not only for the forest sector, but also in the areas of environment, agribusiness, engineering, bioenergy, geotechnology, infrastructure, development, market, socioeconomic  and technology information, both in the public and private sphere, including non-governmental organizations and development agencies.

For more than three decades, STCP concerted efforts in finding smart solutions. The contributions and services to promote the development of the sectors in which it operates were many, including establishment and management of industrial projects

and infrastructure (Agribusiness, ports, airports and roads), management and supervision of governmental programs, management of agroforestry operations, purchase and sale of assets, development of public policies related to the environment and the forest, social responsibility, and contribution to regional economic growth.

STCP also works in the attraction of national and international investments for agricultural, forestry, industrial projects. To enable and succeed in these diversified operations, the company has developed and implemented a series of new technologies and work methodologies.Since its foundation, the company has recorded more than 4,000 projects and studies developed for clients in 40 countries in the Americas, Africa, Europe, Asia and Oceania.

STCP is, today, a leading company in Latin America in its area of activity and expertise, with a permanent staff of about 400 employees and is able to mobilize more than 150 external consultants, depending on client needs.

Structure

The current STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. organizational structure is composed of Directors and Business Units’ managers. The implementation of studies and projects is carried out through Business Units, managed by highly qualified senior consultants. Additionally, the Information and Intelligence Center (CI&I) make up the structure of the company.

CI&I is responsible for all STCP´s documentation, standardization, informatization, quality control and the database. This forestry-related Database has been fed since the early years of the company and currently is considered the most complete in Brazil in its specialty. It meets not only the STCP needs but also the needs of clients. Several companies of the forest sector that provide market information to the database, in return, they receive the consolidated regional information. There are more than 500 companies registered as data providers.

The information system also includes a specialized library with more than 9,000 items in the areas of environment, forests, ecology, engineering and industries, machineries and equipments, market and economics, legislation, policy, among others. In addition, it includes a collection of more than 4,000 documents generated by the company itself.

Presidency

Ivan Tomaselli, President

Ivan Tomaselli is the founder and President, and also Managing Director of STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. He has over 40 years of professional experience in development of projects related to the forest industry and forest products market, public policy and sectoral programs. He has worked as project coordinator and consultant of the company and international organizations such as the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), International Trade Center (ITC), International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO),  Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), International Institute of Environment and Development (IIED), UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations Fórum on Forests (UNFF), the World Bank, and others. Tomaselli has published over 200 technical and scientific papers and has delivered hundreds of lectures and courses in events around the world. He was a Professor at the Federal University of Paraná from 1977 to 2010. He is currently the Vice President of Technology and Development of the Brazilian Association of Mechanically-Processed Timber Association (ABIMCI), responsible for the CB-31 (Brazilian Committee on Timber) of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT).

Tomaselli earned B.Sc. degree in Forest Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil; MSc. degree in Timber Technology from UFPR, Brazil; PhD. degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia; and post-doctorate at the Bundesforschungsanstalt fur Forest-und Holzwirtchaft, Hamburg, Germany.

Joésio Deoclécio Pierin Siqueira, Vice-president

Joésio Deoclécio Pierin Siqueira is the founder and Vice President of STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. He has over 40 years of professional experience in coordination and preparation of projects related to the environment (licensing, legislation, environmental management and audits), forest management (natural and planted forests), silviculture, forest inventory, in addition to participating in numerous consulting services related to environmental and forestry legislation, public policies and sectoral programs. He coordinated the elaboration of more than 70 management plans for conservation units in Brazil and abroad. He was the Director of the former Brazilian Institute of Forest Development (IBDF), during the period 1980 to 1985. He has worked extensively with environmental and sustainable development projects in the Brazilian Amazon and Latin American countries (Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Colombia), both for the company and international organizations (FAO, the World Bank, IDB and others). He is an emeritus Professor at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR).

Joésio earned B.Sc. degree in Forest Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil; graduate degree in Safety Engineering from UFPR, and specialization in Public Administration at University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil; MSc. degree in Forestry Management from UFPR; and Doctor in Forest Economics and Policy from UFPR, Brazil.

Aguimar Mendes Ferreira has over 30 years of professional experience in management, coordination and elaboration of projects and studies related to the environment, forest management (natural forests and forest plantations), economic evaluation, strategic and operational planning, public policy and sectoral programs. He has developed environmental management projects and studies in the South, Southeast, Central-West regions and in the Brazilian Amazon, and Latin American countries such as Ecuador and Peru, involving public and private institutions, as well as establishment of large projects in the energy sector, mining, forestry and agribusiness.

He currently serves as Director of Operations of STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda.

Ferreira earned B.Sc. degree in Forestry Engineering from University of Brasilia (UnB), Brazil; MSc. in Economics and Forest Policy from Federal University of Parana (UFPR), Brazil; specialization in Elaboration, Evaluation and Management of Investment Projects at UFPR, Brazil. He joined STCP in 1985.

João Jorge Kotzias

João Jorge Kotzias has over 25 years of professional experience, began his professional career in insurance company for automobile, cargo transport, aircraft and pleasure craft, after 3 years moved to the administrative and financial area in a joint capital company where worked for 11 years. After this period, he joined private companies such as plywood factory, importer and exporter of automotive parts.

He currently serves as the Director of Finance and Administration of STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda., working on matters related to import and export procedures, company informatization management and control, negotiation with customers and business representatives, market research and quality management.

Kotzias earned BBA in Business Administration from the University Positivo (UP), Curitiba, Brazil; and LLB in Law from the University Tuiuti, Brazil. He joined STCP in 1997.

Roberto Bonse

Roberto Bonse has over 25 years of professional experience in supervision, management, elaboration and implementation of projects for the forest-based industry, with emphasis in market, trade, feasibility studies and management. He has worked as a consultant in projects funded by international organizations (FAO, ITC, IFC, WBG, IADB, ITTO) and has led trade missions to North America, Asia and Europe. He also has international experience in projects carried out for clients located in 27 countries across 5 continents. He worked as a consultant in the privatization programs of the Brazilian government in the iron and steel industry and fertilizer sector, and management of timberland assets owned by foreign investment funds and by Brazilian investors.

He currently serves as the International Development Director of STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda.

Bonse earned B.Sc. degree in Forestry Engineering from Federal University of Parana – UFPR, Brazil; MSc. degree in Strategic Management from Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná PUC / Paraná, Brazil; Specialization in GIS at Federal University of Parana – UFPR, Brazil. He joined STCP in 1996.

Rômulo Sousa Lisboa

Rômulo Sousa Lisboa has over 25 years of professional experience in carrying out and managing projects related to environmental and forest-related areas. He has led several projects for various national and international companies and organizations related to environmental licensing of forest-based industries and projects, production prognoses, forest management, forest inventory, system development, management plans of protected areas, and land and forest assets appraisal. He has over 3 years of experience in administrative, commercial and operational management in a transportation company.

He currently serves as the Director for Development and Quality Management Directorate of STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda., coordinating marketing activities, quality control and development of computerized systems. In addition, he serves as the Business Unit Manager of procurement services (forest inventory, research and topographic surveys).

Juliana C. Kreische has over 15 years of professional experience in project management and supervision of construction works. She has been working in coordination of multidisciplinary teams of construction works supervision and preparation of projects, preparation of technical and commercial proposals, projects planning and engineering works. She has extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, having worked 10 years with projects and execution of deep foundation works across the country.

She is currently a senior consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. and serves as manager of the Engineering Business Unit, responsible for industrial projects, infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

Kreische earned B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil; postgraduate degree in Corporate Management from the Federal University of Parana (UFPR), Brazil. She joined STCP in 2010.

Marcelo Wiecheteck

Marcelo Wiecheteck has over 30 years of professional experience in forest investment, economics and forestry development in Brazil and abroad. He is a natural resources / forest economist with a large experience in elaboration, implementation and management of projects on forest products market and strategic affairs, economic and financial feasibility analysis, investments in sustainable business, forest market modeling, silviculture, forest policy and actions implementation for increasing business efficiency. He has worked in consulting projects for the private and public sector, and international organizations. He also has extensive knowledge of forestry operations in Brazil and abroad (Latin America, North America, Europe and Africa).

He currently serves as Business Unit Manager of STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda, in areas related to Planning, Economics and Market, Strategic Studies and Policies.

Wiecheteck earned B.Sc. degree in Forest Engineering from Federal University of Paraná (UFPR); MSc. degree in Silviculture from UFPR, Brazil; PhD. in Forest Economics from Michigan State University, USA; and post-doctorate in forest product markets at Michigan State University, USA. Michela R. C. Scupino

Michela R. C. Scupino has over 10 years of professional experience in projects related to the environment, environmental licensing, biodiversity, conservation units, regional planning, sectoral programs. She has carried out more than 35 management plans for Conservation Units and over 20 environmental impact assessment for licensing of mining, energy, forest-based and infrastructure projects. She has worked on projects in all Brazilian biomes, particularly the Amazon and Atlantic Forest biome. She has published articles in environmental magazines and in proceedings of Conservation Units Conferences.

She currently serves as Business Unit Manager of STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. in areas related to the Environment and Natural Resources.

Scupino earned B.Sc. degree in Geography from Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil; specialization in Environmental Analysis from UFPR, Brazil; MSc. degree in Urban and Industrial Environment from UFPR, in partnership with SENAI and University of Stuttgart, Germany. She joined STCP in 2005.

Adriano Lopes Pereira de Melo

Adriano Lopes Pereira de Melo has over 25 years of professional experience in development and coordination of projects and studies in the areas of licensing, environment and public management, worked on procurement processes in the public sector. He has experience in the public sector in the municipal, state and federal level: working as a Forest Engineer in Votorantim (SP) municipality, for the São Paulo State Government as scientific researcher of the Institute of Botany and technician of the environmental licensing agency (SMA/SP ), and in the Federal Government he worked at the National Environmental Fund / Ministry of the Environment as a consultant through UNDP and coordinator of forestry extension projects portfolio, at the Ministry of Agrarian Development/INCRA as a consultant for IICA – Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture/OAS in a project of IDB and also in the Ministry of National Integration/Development Company of the Valleys of São Francisco and Parnaíba, served as advisor to the President and Environment Manager of the Hydrographic Basin Revitalization Area. He also has experience in environmental consulting and procurement in the private sector (Bahia).

He currently is a Senior Consultant at the STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. in the Development and Quality Management Division, working on proposals preparation for the public and private sector.

Alexandre Scarabelot Campos

Alexandre Scarabelot Campos, has over 10 years of professional experience in management of administrative and financial procedures in the Public Sector, consultancy in bidding processes, public budgeting and finance, monitoring and execution of contracts, agreements, cooperation agreements, public procurement policies, guidelines and drafting normative acts. He also serves as a Member of the Administrative Board of Appeals on Infringements of the 8th SRPRF/SC of the Ministry of Justice and works in management of public projects and programs in the States of Amapá and Maranhão.

He is currently a Consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. in the Development and Quality Management Directorate, coordinating commercial operation and working on search and capture business opportunities, as well as advising on legal aspects of public bidding processes.

Anderson Baena de Oliveira Monteiro has more than 8 years of professional experience in national and international undertakings (Cuba, Mozambique and Venezuela). Bruno Matuella

Bruno Matuella has been working as an environmental consultant for 10 years, and for 7 years he has been coordinating environmental licensing-related projects. He has experience in environmental project management, and coordination of environmental studies such as Environmnetal Impact Assessment (EIA / EIS), Basic Environmental Plan (PBA), Environmental Control Plan (PCA), Environmental Control Report (RCA) and other studies focused especially on the licensing process of large undertakings as agricultural, forestry, industrial, port and renewable energy.

Claudia P. Silva Sampaio has over 25 years of professional experience in coordination and implementation of socio-economic projects. She has been working on projects related to socio-economic diagnosis, workshop organization and moderation, censuses, conflict mediation, environmental impact assessments, management plans for conservation units, social and environmental projects´ elaboration, execution and management, and project evaluation. Additionally, she has more than 10 years of teaching experience in higher education and participation in research projects and extension programs.

She is currently a senior consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda in the Environmental Business Unit, responsible for coordinating and participating in socioeconomic-related projects.

Sampaio earned B.Sc. degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR); MSc. degree in Rural Development from the Universidad Austral de Chile (UACH); and PhD. degree in Planning and Sustainable Development from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Cleber Novacovski has more than 20 years of professional experiences in execution and management of projects related to geotechnology and environmental area. He has carried out works for private companies and national and international organizations related to environmental licensing, characterization and mapping of land use and occupation, systems development, land tenure, georeferencing of rural properties, land identification and acquisition for implementation of various types of undertakings.

He is currently a consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. in the Environmental and Natural Resources Business Unit, working on contracts management for execution of environmental related projects.

Daniele Cristina Pries Staut

Daniele Cristina Pries Staut with over 15 years of professional experience in implementation and coordination of environmental projects. She has been working on elaboration of Environmental Impact Assessments / Environmental Impact Report (EIA / EIS) of various large projects (railways, highways, HPP, TPP), Degraded Areas Recovery Plans (PRAD), Environmental Control Programs (PCA) and Basic Environmental Projects (PBA) and evaluation of environmental liabilities. She has extensive experience in planning, management of Conservation Units (UCs) including coordination of Rapid Ecological Assessment (REA), environmental diagnosis, structuring, planning, zoning, plans and programs. She is Lead Auditor registered at the Environmental Institute of Paraná under No. 084/2005-PF-IAP.

She is currently a senior consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. in the Business Unit related to the Environment, with experience in coordination and execution of projects in the environmental área.

Staut earned B.Sc. degree in Biology from Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná – PUCPR, Brazil; specialization in Wildlife Conservation and Management at PUCPR, Brazil. She joined STCP in 2008.

Daniele Zilio Vigolo

Daniele Zilio Vigolo has over 10 years of experience in coordination and implementation of projects related to forest inventory and management of natural and planted forests, forest production planning, asset valuation and due diligence. She has been working with data processing, preparation of technical reports, as well as in coordination of projects and teams, and participated in more than 60 projects for clients of various sectors, such as forestry, energy, mining, agriculture, investment funds and public institutions.

She is currently a consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. in the Business Unit related to Natural Resources.

Vigolo earned B.Sc. degree in Forest Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil; MSc. Degree in Forest Management / Optimized Production Strategic Planning from UFPR. She joined STCP in 2008.

Edward Fagundes Branco

Edward Fagundes Branco has over 28 years of experience as an executive of agroindustrial business units and forest assets, managed within the concept of sustainable development. He headed the Paulista Association of Forest Companies and the Paulista Association of Forest Engineers. He was an advisor to FSC Brazil, ABRAF (now IBÁ), Florestar São Paulo (current Paulista Association of Planted Forest Producers) and IPEF / ESALQ / USP. As a consultant, he carried out studies and analysis of forest investment opportunities in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantins, Maranhão and Piauí.

Currently, he is Financial Administrative Manager of the COBRAPE-STCP Consortium, a project linked to the State of Maranhão with an investment of R$ 3.8 billion from BNDES.

Branco earned B.Sc. degree in Forest Engineering from Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil; M.Sc. in Forest Management from UFPR, Brazil. Worked at STCP in 2011, and returning in 2015.

Gustavo Nati

Gustavo Nati, has over 10 years of professional experience in designing and developing architectural projects and inspecting construction works. He has participated in the preparation of architecture, urbanism and landscaping projects for several companies and national organizations of all sizes and lines of action. These include airports, infrastructure and sanitation, industries, public institutions, commercial and residential buildings, using sustainable resources, elements and techniques. Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary projects of different natures (health, culture, tourism, sport and leisure).

He is currently a consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda in the Engineering Business Unit., responsible for elaboration, compatibilization, supervision and management of construction works and projects.

Nati earned B.Sc. degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the State University of Londrina (UEL), Brazil; and, currently enrolled in Sustainable Construction postgraduate course at Federal University of Technology – Paraná (UTFPR), Brazil. He joined STCP in 2012.

Janon Meirelles Siqueira

Janon Meirelles Siqueira has 6 years of professional experience in analysis and verification of documentation needed for acquisition of rural and urban property, and in preparation of legal opinions analyzing barriers and solutions for effective transaction. He has worked on Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Impact Reports (EIA/EIS), analysis of legal frameworks for environmental licensing process, and environmental legal expertise. Other experiences include analysis of forest and environmental laws, legal and institutional framework, at Federal, State and Municipal level, related to forestry and environmental issues in Brazil, and analysis, preparation and review of corporate contracts.

He is currently a Consultant / Technical Advisor at STCP Engenharia de Projectos Ltda. in the Legal Department & Controllership

Janon earned Bachelor degree in Law from Integrated Colleges of Brazil (UNIBRASIL); postgraduate degree in Notarial Law and Registration, providing advice to the company directorate on strategic actions, project control and monitoring, as well as legal advice.

Jefferson Dorigon Garcia has over 30 years of professional experience in coordinating and managing projects related to forest sector, forest industry and forest products market. He has gained experience in development of opportunity studies and sectoral and regional development programs. He has carried out projects in Brazil and in most Central and South American countries, especially in identifying business opportunities, sites selection, strategic studies and forest out grower programs. He has served as FAO consultant, in the development of studies on trends and perspectives for the forest sector at the national and regional level (Latin America), and also worked on IDB projects related to strategic forestry development studies and programs. He has published several articles in journals related to the forest sector, and has given speeches at seminars and symposiums in Brazil and Latin America.

He is currently a senior consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda. in the areas related to Planning, Economics and Market, Strategic Studies and Policies.

Garcia earned B.Sc. degree in Forest Engineering from the Federal University of Parana – UFPR, Brazil; Specialization in Forest-based Industry from Federal University of Parana – UFPR, Brazil and in Quality Management and Productivity from the Regional Economy Council of Paraná, Brazil. Joésio de Meirelles Siqueira has 7 years of professional experience in implementing and managing projects related to the environment. Juliana B. L. Puga has over 16 years of professional experience. She has worked with Geographic Information Systems (GIS); GPS data processing and analysis; and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and satellite images classification and treatment.

Rafael Silveira Ribeiro

Rafael Silveira Ribeiro has over 17 years of professional experience in environmental licensing (at the federal, state and municipal levels), including document preparation, implantation and coordination of activities in major hydroelectric, industrial and mining projects in the country. He has extensive knowledge in elaboration, development and management of fauna rescue projects, inventory and monitoring of terrestrial and aquatic fauna, diagnoses and environmental impact reports, and environmental feasibility studies. Sérgio A. Abrahão Morato

Sergio Augusto Abrahão Morato has 27 years of professional experience in the implementation of projects related to the environmental, research and higher education areas. Since 1989, he has been carrying out and coordinating studies related to the biological area, especially fauna, for companies of diverse segments, with emphasis on the areas of energy, mining, transport and forest-based projects, and planning and management of conservation units. He has been coordinating environmental impact studies, management plans and monitoring programs for private companies and public authorities at the federal and state level. Additionally, he has academic experiences, worked for 5 years at the Natural History Museum of Curitiba and over 15 years as a teacher in the areas of ecology, biogeography, zoology, environmental management and environmental impact assessment, including undergraduate and postgraduate levels in five Brazilian universities and one university in Argentina. He is currently a guest professor of the International MBA course in Environmental Management at Federal University of Paraná. He also worked for five years as senior biologist of Companhia Paranaense de Energia – COPEL, coordinating several environmental management studies and programs at hydroelectric plants.

He is currently a Senior Consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda., in the Business Unit related to the Environment.

Sofia R. Hirakuri

Sofia R. Hirakuri has over 25 years of professional experience in Forest Law-related areas and public policy in Brazil and abroad. She has worked on areas including the legal aspects of international trade in timber and forest products, sustainable forest management, forest certification, forest law enforcement, environmental law, international environmental law and its implementation. She has published numerous articles on forest law enforcement and sustainable forest management; the book entitled “Law Can Save the Forest?” has been widely read by experts of the forest area. He has worked on projects. She has been working as consultant and project coordinator in policy development areas of the forest sector, including legal and institutional aspects, forestry strategic plan, conservation and sustainable use of forest resources with private companies, governmental agencies and international organizations, such as IDB, FAO, ITTO, UNFF and others.

Urubatan M. Skerratt Suckow

Urubatan Moura Skerratt Suckow, has over 10 years of professional experience, with extensive experience in conducting environmental impact studies. Its main areas of activity are ecology and zoology of mammals, with an emphasis on bats. He has participated in environmental impact studies for undertakings in general, hydroelectric plants, mining companies, highways, and transmission lines; preparation of mastofauna inventories; development of ecology studies and behavior of mammals in general. He has worked extensively in research, including project with bioacoustics of bats, a project aimed at understanding the effects of noise pollution on the chiropterofauna of Greensboro, in North Carolina, in the United States.

He is currently a Consultant at STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda., in the Environment area, where he works with management, surveying and monitoring of mastofauna in installation of projects and operation of mining areas, transmission lines and hydroelectric, wind and solar power plants.

Suckow earned B.Sc. in Biology from the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC / PR), Brazil; M.Sc. degree in Animal Biology from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil. He joined STCP in 2016.
